After some discussion we are asking members that want to post images on SCP to use a third party server like photobucket or on your own website.

The occassional image is fine, but be advised that we intend to prune out images when the data base starts to fill up. The reason for doing this is primary the cost. If the data base were to expand to a point where we are required to pay more for storage and bandwidth, the cost becomes untenable. We are a website that  is solely funded by the owners of the site and we don't really want to ask people to donate to the site or have advertising to help fund the place. So from now on, we are autopruning images and attachments whenever the data base gets near full. We intend to notify members that might have images in the data base, so that they may save them if they have previously lost their original copy.

You can however, still submit articles for SCPedia which can hold articles on projects, ideas and information related to astronomy. These articles will be maintained and the attachments will be kept in place too.

We hope this does not inconvenience people too much, but it is for the sake of necessity.
